Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Hazardous Conditions)

Today, Monday January 19, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the hazardous campus conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO) and on 585 phone system voicemail. If you need emergency-related information, please contact the Department of Safety and Security by dialing 88 on all 585-phone systems, or by calling 902-585-1103.

Study Abroad

Double major BBA/French

It is recommended that major, honours and double major students spend the third year of their 4-year program in a French-speaking university in Quebec or abroad.  It is recommended that double major BBA/French students participate in a direct exchange with the Université de Nancy, in France. Direct Student exhange with Université de François-Rabelais de Tours

The Department of Languages and Literatures at Acadia also participates in a direct exchange with the Université François-Rabelais de Tours in France (http://www.univ-tours.fr). More information on this exchange is available in the Handbook for Study Abroad in Tours, France (click here).

Students who have been accepted into the exchange program with Tours should fill out the Course Selection Approval Form and send it to Head of the Department for approval before finalizing their choice of courses in France.  Click here to access the form.

The Department will also help students wishing to study elsewhere make the necessary arrangements. For Anglophones wishing to study at a Canadian university during the Spring or Summer Intersession, government bursaries are available. ( click here)
