Trip to Montreal March16 au 19 mars 2017

Field trip to Montreal

Objectives:

The French section of the Department of Languages and Literatures is planning a four day trip to Montreal for students enrolled in French courses.  The purpose of the trip is to enhance class-room instruction by allowing students to immerse themselves for a short period in living Quebec culture.  This experience will include visits to museums, art galleries and historical monuments as well as shows, films and lectures.  Students will also have the opportunity to try examples of French and international cuisine and to drop into the shops and cafés of the Latin Quarter and Old Montreal.  It goes without saying that the many opportunities to speak French whilst there and among those taking part will be exploited to the full.  At least one professor, Robert Proulx, will accompany the group.

Cost of the trip :

Acadia University has undertaken to share the costs with the studnts who take part.  The approximate cost of $450.00 includes the return air trip, three nights in a hotel (double occupancy), meals, tickets for films, museums etc and ground transport in Nova Scotia and Montreal.  The university will contribute to the trip, but each student will  have to contribute around 450.00  from their own resources.  In an effort to reduce this amount, the students who are selected for the trip will organize a fund-raising event to help defray these costs.

If you want to take part:

If you wish to participate, please send your request to the following address: robert.proulx@acadiau.ca with a copy to elke.willmann@acadiau.ca. The financial contribution from the university will allow us to take 11 students; if there are more than eleven applications, a departmental committee will decide which students may participate.  We would like to emphasize that the students who are chosen will not necessarily be those with the most advanced French skills but those who appear to be the most highly motivated.  Following the trip, you will be asked to compare the experience itself with your expectations prior to departure and to comment on what you have learned.  If you are selected , you will be notified, and in order to secure your place, you will have to make a non-refundable deposit of $50.00.  All students enrolled in a French course during the academic year 20116-17 are entitled to apply.
